Concord's New Year's Eve Vancouver

Concord’s NYE Vancouver fireworks celebration postponed to 2023/24

For Immediate Release
December 15, 2022

VANCOUVER, BC — The Vancouver New Year's Eve Celebration Society has every intention to revive its major New Year's Eve fireworks tradition in downtown Vancouver following a prolonged pandemic hiatus.

Over the past year, the volunteer-driven Society expended countless hours and worked with a proven team of global contractors to bring back the first full-scale New Year's Eve fireworks celebration at the event's new location of East False Creek (between Cambie Bridge and Science World), complete with activations, experiences, and pyro special effects that have never been seen before in Vancouver.

This new, truly world-class event concept would have made all Vancouverites proud, and rekindled a sense of civic pride, hope, and betterment during the most auspicious night of the year.

Earlier this month, a very difficult decision was made to postpone the inaugural event on December 31, 2022 due to escalating costs in logistics, and challenges with securing the necessary critical labour in completing the required site-wide security and crowd control measures across East False Creek.

We know there is a pent-up demand for fun and revelry in and around the Vancouver region, and we are excited to transfer and refine our blueprints for this year's event to the inaugural event now scheduled for December 31, 2023. New Year's Eve in Vancouver will return bigger and better.

To the people of Vancouver and across British Columbia, we wish you a Happy New Year, and we look forward to ringing in new beginnings with you in one year from now. For continued updates, visit
